A friend took me to this restaurant that specializes in pork katsu. Coming from San Francisco and the Japanese restaurants I have gone to never specified what cut I wanted: prime, choice or select. I was so overwhelmed with the menu and the choices, I told my friend to order. We started with Gobo chips that neither of us had before. We thought we would try it. It was disappointing - limpy, soggy and no flavor. We expected it to be crispy like taro chips. It was so bad that neither of us hardly ate it. Next was the fried oyster. Lightly battered and cooked to perfection. They were huge oysters - so fresh, juicy and yummy. It was one of the best fried oyster I have tasted. The grilled black cod marinated in saikyo miso sauce came with three pieces. It was so delicious that it kind of melted in your mouth, The fish was soft and flavorful. For out meal, I had the Premium Fillet Katsu Gozen. It's one of the best pork cutlets I had. Lightly fried on the outside (crispy) and tender and soft in the insides. My friend had the Premium Loin Katsu Gozen. The difference is the meat denseness. Both tasted good. For dessert, we tried the pudding. It tastes like flan but not as sweet. The restaurant is styled like a Japanese restaurant. Tables are divided by walls so there's privacy and you don't hear people talking. Lighting is rather dark due to the dark wood furniture and dark walls. Service was excellent and the server checked on us frequently to see if we needed anything. The main problem is parking - there is a small parking lot with about five tiny, squeezed in spaces. We had to circle several times before we found.

Came here on a spur and it didn’t disappoint. The service was great and friendly. The food was surprisingly really good. The atmosphere was really nice. Loved the decor. One side was like a bar and the other was family dining. They also have a great dessert selection also.

Great thick cut pork tonkatsu, very tender. Thin ones are also available. My first visit and was very pleased with the food, service and atmosphere. We were seated in a booth with very traditional Japanese layout (see photo). It really adds to the experience.

First time, read the reviews, & ordered the katsu and the curry. LOVED it all! Pork was tender and airy. Curry was subtle and balanced. All sides including the soup & salad were simple and fresh tasting. We ate all of it with delight and agreed this was the best katsu we’ve ever had! You must make reservations though and the parking lot was full, but we found parking spaces very close by on the side street. Nice contemporary decor. Great for a family outing or date night.

This place serves truly authentic Japanese tonkatsu. The breading is exactly like in Japan. The mille-feuille tonkatsu and the tenderloin taste just like eating in Japan. The mazemen noodles are spot-on, almost identical to what you’d get in Nagasaki. Mixing the leftover sauce with white rice is perfect. Corkage is $18. This is definitely a must-visit. Even the miso soup is full of care

Wow! Would absolutely come here again. They have very good quality wasabi and side dishes. The katsu is delicious and we also got their special sashimi bowl and unagi bowl. Top notch
